English: Speaking and Writing in the Natural and Health Sciences

This course builds on the vocabulary, reading, listening, speaking and writing skills gained in general English foundation courses. It also further develops competences introduced in subject specific courses such as "English in Medicine", "English for Pharmaceutical Scientists", "English for Sports Scientists", and "English for Global Health".
We use an assortment of authentic print and audio materials on contemporary issues from a variety of natural and health science disciplines, such as the life sciences, pharmacy, environmental sciences, nanosciences, chemistry, physics and sports sciences.
In addition, participants use their own materials to practise the correct use of scientific jargon and other aspects of speaking central to discussions and mini-presentations. Students have the opportunity to train and develop further the features of writing common in the natural and health sciences.

Entry requirement: min. 2 semesters of natural or health sciences.
