Levels

The courses at the Language Center follow the level descriptions of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) or comparable standards for languages not covered by the CEFR. According to the CEFR, language competence is divided into three levels:

  • A: basic language user
  • B: independent language user
  • C: proficient language user

The self-assessment grid covers the following language skills:

  • Reception (listening comprehension; reading comprehension)
  • Production (coherent speaking; writing)
  • Interaction (participating in conversations; written and online interaction)
  • Mediation (mediation of texts; mediation of concepts; mediation of communication)
