Please read the information below before beginning the placement process.

With our graphically represented placement process, you can orient yourself,

• how to take a placement test per language,
• whether you need to take an online placement test,
• whether you need an additional oral placement test, and

The information about the placement process for German as a foreign language, English, French, Italian, Spanish and Russian can be found under the corresponding links.

The Language Center uses placement tests from external providers. You usually register with your name and email address. This does not have to be an official email address; you can use a pseudonymized email address instead. The Language Center is not liable for how these external providers process your data.

You can take the online placement test from home. Course selection consultations take place via phone or Zoom, appointments for oral placement sessions with the head of department or lecturer are conducted via Zoom.
