The second edition of the SciLib Forum “AI in Charge or Human in the Loop? Maintaining Scientific Ownership in the Age of Generative AI" will take place on 22nd and 23rd September 2026 in the University Medical Library in Basel.

The SciLib Forum of the University Medical Library in Basel is a focused training and discussion event in English for academic researchers—particularly PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, early and advanced career scholars—interested in integrating generative AI into their scientific writing processes.

Generative AI is changing how researchers write, review, evaluate, and communicate science. As AI tools become more capable of synthesizing literature, drafting manuscripts, and shaping research outputs, a fundamental question arises: Who is actually in charge? Are researchers still the primary authors using AI as an assistant, or are humans increasingly reduced to editing AI-generated science?
